Grateful on Thanksgiving…?

Was just thinking about this whole, ‘be grateful for a day’ Thanksgiving theme that not enough people really think about. Being grateful for family, friends, and food on the table should not just be a one time deal. But more importantly, being grateful for living in a country whose wealth rests on the exploitation of 3rd world nations… just isn’t right. And let’s be real, the pilgrims didn’t have a sit down dinner with the native peoples, after having slaughtered their families and driving them from their homes! Instead of living in ignorant bliss this holiday season, WAKE UP! Shake off the ways this system has you thinking this is the greatest of all possible worlds. We can do so much better than this. Something we should be grateful about, is the fact that things don’t have to be this way. There is a way out of this madness thanks to the vision and strategy for revolution brought forward by Bob Avakian, leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party. Get into this leader and a vision for a whole new and far better world! http://revcom.us/avakian/index.html

So there has been a lot of controversy around artist, Lily Allen’s new video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0CazRHB0so for her song, It’s Hard Out Here (For a Bitch) and we have something to say about all this. First of all, it is overall a good thing for any artist to be putting out…

From Alice Walker to Stop Patriarchy

Sent to Stop Patriarchy:

"Every person has the right to her or his own body. It is the right of women to be free internally, and externally, of anything that causes them hardship and harm. I stand with women everywhere, and with the men who truly love them, in saying: We are the ones who’ve waited too long for the painful freedom that can come from abortion, to turn back now."

'Empowerment' as argued for by women's studies departments, and by mainstream feminists overall, takes the oppression and degradation of women, as a given. It says that all we can do is 'own' our sexuality, commodify ourselves, and accept the conditions in which we are put. NO! We need to break out of this framework. We need the FULL LIBERATION of women!

In this #AbortionRightsEmergency … what will you do?  Sit on the sidelines?  Hypothesize & criticize?  Bury your head in the sand?  Rely on the official political process which has buckled under the force of the anti-abortion movement?  Or stand up, expose and oppose their illegitimacy, and fight unapologetically for abortion rights?!  TODAY would not be a minute too soon.

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS!? this woman is fucking righteous. nothing she said was wrong (minus the pro-lifers being absent in ny) and yet she was forcibly removed for being ‘disrespectful’. Well in her words from an interview “What was disrespectful was the parade of anti-choice zealots and misogynists who got up for 13 hours and called women murderers, killers, promiscuous, thoughtless, and selfish. Not a peep from committee chair Nelson on those.”
